Can you believe it? All those years of hard and grueling work in school and now you're about to begin your final year! It might only be May right now, but June, July, and August are going to fly by and soon you'll be scrambling to make yearbook deadlines for your senior photos!
Save yourself (and your parents!) the stress and book your senior portrait session as soon as possible. We will do your senior informal portraits anywhere that is legal (no abandoned buildings posted with "No Trespassing" signs, sorry!) and within driving distance of our home base in Perryville. Then, we can set up our traveling photo studio in your home (or our home base!) for your senior formal portraits.
Parents: We're free evenings and weekends just for you! No more hassles with scheduling portraits in studios that close before you're even home from work and had dinner.
Book your senior portrait shoot today! Send us an email at sarah.koermer@highcontrastphotography.net!

2nd Annual Heather Hurd 5K Run
This morning bright and early kicked off the second annual Heather L. Hurd 5K Walk/Run. It was started and is run by the Hurd family and as a personal family friend of the Hurds, they have asked me to photograph it for the second year running.
Heather Hurd was the daughter of Russ and Kim Hurd. On January 3, 2008 she was killed in a tragic car accident caused by a tractor-trailer driver who was texting while driving. Ever since that day, Russ and Kim and their son Drew have lobbied, rallied, and petitioned to make texting while driving illegal in Maryland. They succeeded last year in 2009 and kicked off the first annual Heather Hurd 5K a few months later. Many other states have now followed suit with the law. Last year's run was so successful that the Hurds did it again this year and intend to keep it going as long as possible. All of the money raised by the run goes to scholarships for HCC. Last year's total was over $14,000, and this year's total is rumored to have surpassed that.
Following are just a few of the hundreds of photos I took today. These are straight off the camera, totally untouched. (That will come later.)

The run took place at Harford Community College. Runners registered in the Susquehanna Center gymnasium.

Division winners were awarded medals and trophies at the awards ceremony.

The mayor of Aberdeen officially declared November 20 as "Heather Hurd Day."

Senator Barry Glassman not only made an appearance, but ran the marathon as well!

The Hurd's son, Drew, ran a table with a pledge for people to sign to promise to not text and drive.

Prices, Packages, and Photobooks, Oh My!
As a business, I am constantly looking for ways to expand and improve my services. As a person, I am constantly looking for ways to save you time, money, and stress. These two passions have combined with the creation of my SmugMug.
"A happy mugshot?" you inquire.
No, my friends. SmugMug is a wonderful tool for photographers that allows you to view all of your pictures (already edited!), order them in whatever print sizes you desire, and wait for them to be delivered to you... all from your couch or desk. Not only can you order regular ordinary prints, but you can also order beautiful wrapped canvases of your favorite shots. Even better, with a few extra steps with me, you can order a custom designed photobook or a custom framed photo... and you never have to lift a finger.
Unbelievable?
Believe it!
To see this fantastic new website for yourself, just click here. Please, don't be shy! Feel free to explore, browse, and peruse. Don't be afraid to ask questions! And most importantly, if you decide you want to book a shoot with me, email me immediately at sarah.koermer@highcontrastphotography.net!

Wedding Season

Ah, springtime... the flowers are blooming, the rains are falling, the birds are singing... and for photographers, that means the beginning of our most prosperous time of year: Wedding Season! I am currently booking for the 2010 Wedding Season, but it is never too early (or too late!) to book! If you or anyone you know is currently looking for a wedding photographer, please consider me as one of your options! There are many photographers out there, but only a select few who are determined to give you amazing service at an incredible value - I pride myself on being one of those select few. Check out just a few of my wedding photos on my site here.
On another note, I have recently set up a small product studio so I can shoot still-life setups and products whenever I like. The best eight images from my most recent sets can be found on my Facebook. I have found that I am quickly falling in love with food photography, so perhaps I will soon devote an entire album on my Facebook and page on my site to just food.
And with that, I leave you to happy browsing!

Welcome!
Greetings to my past, present, and potential clients!
This is a news blog that I have started to keep everyone updated on the different kinds of shoots that I do and how well (or not so well!) they go. With the permission of my clients, I will give general details on where and how my shoots were done. This will give potential clients the opportunity to see the kind of work that I do and what goes into a shoot. It also gives past and present clients the opportunity to give feedback on their experience with me as their photographer.
Throughout this blog, I will have links to both my website and my official Facebook page to remind everyone to check out my work. For those who don't know, my website can be found here and my Facebook page here.
With that said, I'll leave everyone to happy browsing! I look forward to hearing from you!
